Child Playing

Is my child a late talker?

A late talker is defined as a child who has a delay in language onset with no other diagnosed disabilities or developmental delays in other cognitive or motor domains.

How many words should my child have?

A "milestone" is defined as what MOST children are able to do by an age (ex. 90% of kids).

An "average" is defined as an average number of words being used by the age group (ex. 50% of kids).

"Above Average" is defined as above age expectations (ex. 25% of kids)

Children grow and develop at their own rate. However, if your child is having difficulty communicating, speech therapy can help. If you have any concerns about your child’s development, the earlier you seek help, the better.
